EDINBURGH slumped to a fifth consecutive knockout defeat in three seasons under Richard Cockerill as Bordeaux booked a semifinal date with Bristol.
Tries from Santiago Cordero and Jean-Baptiste Dubie put the hosts 14-0 up inside nine minutes in a calamitous start for the Scottish side at Stade Chaban-Delmas.
The visitors worked their way back into it but lacked precision and a clinical edge in the Bordeaux 22, wasting at least four good try-scoring opportunities.
