Bristol Bears centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg will become eligible for England from next November after World Rugby confirmed his brief spell with South Africa U20s nine years ago no longer ties him to the Springboks.

The 28-year-old, twice named in the Prem team of the season, joined London Irish in 2021 before switching to Bristol when Irish collapsed in 2023.
He will qualify for England on five-year residency after the RFU won an appeal to World Rugby on the grounds of ‘exceptional circumstances’.
