Moriarty puts soccer in the shade

IN THEwake of last week’s six-try beating at Castres, Dragons’ director of rugby Dean Ryan touched upon the region’s impoverished state, claiming: “We haven’t got any money.’’
Some will wonder how they can afford to pay one of their players, Wales back row forward Ross Moriarty, a reported £450,000-ayear. And rugby still likes to look down its nose on the earnings of professional footballers.
For the record no Newport County player came close to earning £100,000 last season despite their famous exploits in the FA Cup.
