DALE Stuckey ran in a candidate for try of the season at Sardis Road as Pontypridd scored a magnificent seven to hang on to second place.
Alex Webber also ran from his 22 to score another beauty for the home side and had the fit-again Lloyd Rowlands hung onto a pass on half-way, he would have been in also.
Newport threw the kitchen sink at their hosts and came up with three tries of their own.
They pushed hard for the bonus-point try and it took some incredible defence to deny them a fourth score.
