ENGLAND'S men and women secured bronze at the Commonwealth Games.
The men lost to eventual gold medallists, New Zealand in the semi-final, 17-12, despite scoring tries by Dan Bibby and Alexander Davis.
In the women's competition England again missed out on a potential gold medal match at the hands of New Zealand, 26-5.
Captain Abigail Brown crossed for England's consolation.
The bronze medal match saw England play South Africa. A brace of tries by Philip Burgess and one from talismanic captain Tom Mitchell, all converted by Mitchell, helped England to recover from a 14 point deficit at half time to win the bronze 21-14.
The women clinched bronze against Canada. Tries from Lydia Thompson, Deborah Fleming and Claire Allan helped open up a 14 point lead at half time. The Canadians came back to wipe out the deficit and it took a Jessica Breach try to secure victory 24- 19.
