Keys spread the love with team effort in Cardiff thrill ride

Cross Keys ….35 …………27

CROSS Keys ran in five tries to secure an exciting bonus-point victory over Cardiff at Pandy Park.

Lewis Barnett, Rob Jones, Nathan Trowbridge, Lee Evans and Owain Leonard all crashed over to give Keys maximum points and extend their winning run to three games.

The hosts made the perfect start when centre Barnett intercepted a Cardiff pass to cross for the first try on six minutes.

And Keys continued to push forward and got their reward with Jones claiming the second try, under a pile of Keys players – Josh Prosser adding both conversions.

But Cardiff fought their way back into the game with Ben Jones kicking a penalty and converting Miles Normandale’s try on the stroke of half time.

However, the hosts got their third less than two minutes after the restart with Trowbridge going over and Prosser adding the extras.

Again Cardiff hit back through a James Murphy try, Jones kicking the conversion, but Keys were determined to see out the victory and Scott Matthews set up Evans, who crossed to seal the bonus point for the hosts.

Jones hit a second penalty for Cardiff before Owain Leonard and Kris Smith traded late tries but Cross Keys managed to thwart a late comeback to come away with the win.

The five points bring Cross Keys up to fifth in the table and within a bonus point victory of Cardiff.
