MERTHYR dismantled Pontypridd in this top-ofthe- table clash at The Wern.
Ponty registered early on with lock Josh Hawkins crossing. Diggy Bird converted the score and landed a penalty to hand Ponty a 10-0 lead after just nine minutes.
Merthyr registered their first score of the game thanks to a penalty try following a scrum near Pontypridd’s line.
But Bird struck back with two penalties to leave the score at 16-7 after twenty minutes.
