When the top brass at Twickenham interviewed Dudley Wood for the vacant position of RFU secretary, they raised a pressing matter of grave concern.

“These reporter chappies keep asking us questions which are none of their business. How would you solve that problem?’’
“By answering their questions,’’ Wood replied. “And telling them as much as I could. Problem solved.’’
