Hancock’s 15 seconds of fame lasted his lifetime

MANY sportsmen enjoy 15 minutes of fame but for Northampton wing Andy Hancock, who died aged 80 this week, it was more like 15 seconds.
That was the time it took Mike Weston to gather a loose ball and feed him on the blindside deep in the England 22 against Scotland in 1965 and for Hancock to swerve and sprint his way the length of Twickenham in the clawing mud for the most extraordinary match-levelling score in front of the Queen who was making a rare visit to HQ.
