Champion Robshaw adds to attraction across the Pond

THE news that Chris Robshaw has been in New York this week fine-tuning a projected move to the Rugby United francise is confirmation that ageing rugby players don’t retire these days to open coffee shops or play more golf…they join the Major League Rugby (MLR) in North America. This column has championed the MLR from the off two years ago and attracting a few big foreign names is part of its overall strategy that has seen it grow from seven to 12 teams in just two seasons and secure no fewer than three TV contracts for the third season which kicks off this weekend.
