Fine margin between pain and privilege of touring

Now the club season is over let the summer tours begin and by the time you read this, the first of the Lions games will have been played.
There is something about a tour that brings out the best but also the worst aspects of rugby for both the players and the fans alike. As a player, there was always the excitement of the first ‘get together’, which was usually either on the day you were leaving or the day before, as that was when you got your free stash – the kit that you were expected to wear on tour.
