ENGLISH rugby has been busy pushing the boat out all the way across the Atlantic in a joint RFU-Prem venture aimed at encouraging more US investment in their domestic competitions.
They did so in some style, at the British Embassy in New York where RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney hosted two days of talks with, among others, America’s movers and shakers in the sports franchise business. The irony of such an event will not be lost on some given the respective nations’ disturbing habit of seeing their pro rugby teams go bust.
