Proud of Carley’s rise to top

KENT’S Matt Carley deserves huge congratulations for reaching the top of the refereeing ladder. As a west-countryman long resident in Kent, I met his father John – also a ref – on several occasions.
The tragedy is that, with no meaningful senior competition and a ring-fenced Prem, no Kent player can now emulate Matt and reach the top without leaving the county.
