Scarlets intend to remain “at the heart of west Wales” after the WRU announced on Wednesday that either they or Ospreys will be cut as part of a radical downsizing to a three-region model.
Welsh rugby’s governing body confirmed on Wednesday that Cardiff and Dragons will be given licences ahead of the 2028/29 season leaving Llanelli-based Scarlets and Swansea-based Ospreys fighting to be the side in the west, unless there is to be a merger.
