When the Premiership took a break for the Six Nations, Bristol Bears were in a strong position despite being ravaged by injuries.

They had won all five matches in the block after the November internationals and were in the last 16 of the Champions Cup having surrendered their unbeaten record in the final group match to holders Bordeaux-Begles in a tight affair at Ashton Gate.
Their final match before the Six Nations hibernation saw the Bears win 8-3 at Exeter, the Chiefs’ first home defeat of the season in all competitions.
