It’s time to limit all this ‘trench warfare’

LIKE many fans, we have recently enjoyed a thrilling men’s Six Nations Championship. What a great advert for the modern game this and other recent tournaments have been. However, we remain very dissatisfied by several aspects of the modern game.
The most irritating and potentially dangerous confrontation is what might be called trench warfare on the defending team’s goal line, with phase after phase of collisions, diving at the feet, arm wrestling as the defending side tries to counter the repetitive bludgeoning of the attacking side.
