HULL IONIANS’ win at Tynedale was left hanging in the balance, after a lead established by George Mewburn’s 43rd-minute try was threatened late on.
In the final seconds, a cathedral-like hush fell upon Tynedale Park, as home full-back Cameron Grant lined up what would have been a winning penalty from close to halfway against the Humberside outfit.
A previous effort, from a similar position, five minutes prior had gone between the posts – but under the cross bar, as Ionians breathed again...
