No surprise to see Ellie take top award

ELLIE Kildunne’s Runner-Up accolade at Sports Personality of the Year will come as no surprise to avid fans of women’s rugby, who witness her amazing skill, star quality and edge of your seat excitement she exhibits on a week to week basis. She was instrumental in a successful home World Cup for the Red Roses that propelled our sport into the spotlight. Off the field she is great with fans and always gives back to them. Being greedy, I felt she should have perhaps won the main award and become only the second ever rugby winner after Jonny Wilkinson in 2003.
