ESHER were edged out by Canterbury in a dramatic encounter, despite a memorable performance from James Botterill, who marked his 50th cap with a superb hat-trick.
Ben Robbins also reaching 50 first XV caps, but it ended up a day of disappointment for the hosts.
Esher made a fast start, with Conor Ganley powering over early, with Alex Wainwright converting and then adding a penalty.
Canterbury responded through Thomas Williams and Alfie Orris, both converted by Frank Reynolds.
