When it comes to a commentary on the laws of the game, it’s important to acknowledge first that the referee has the hardest job on the pitch.

None of the players do a job which has at least 102 permutations to consider, so referees deserve our admiration.
However, it’s time World Rugby recognised that some of the laws of the game are not very helpful to referees, and also either confuse or agitate fans of rugby union.
The problem laws are those which laws committees leave “open to interpretation” by referees, leading to inconsistent decisions.
