Berot’s boot:

SELECTORS move in mysterious ways, as we all know, but none more mysterious than the French as Toulouse flyhalf Jean-Louis Berot, below, who died last week aged 78, discovered.
Berot, aged 27 and in his pomp, played the last of his 21 caps in January 1974 when he lined up at fly-half for France against Ireland at Parc des Princes in their opening game of the Five Nations. In a torrid forward-dominated game, France were largely on top but classy full-back Jean-Michel Aguiree had a mare and missed six shots at goal.
