Northampton's lowly league position last season after winning the title in 2024 was less of a crash landing than an underpowered engine after injuries and international call-ups forced them to prioritise the Champions Cup.

They reached their third final in European club rugby’s premier competition, taking it to Bordeaux-Begles in Cardiff before being pipped by a side that also made the Top 14 final.
