The midfield is still a centre of attention in international rugby, but it seems that the long-standing 12-13 partnerships that were once a feature of the game are becoming an endangered species.

Up at the top is the Ma’a Nonu-Conrad Smith pairing that ended with the All Black duo crowning their record 62 Test partnership with victory in the 2015 World Cup final.
Before that double World Cup winners Tim Horan and Jason Little combined in over 50 Tests together for Australia, while Will Carling and I played 44 Tests alongside each other for an England team that won three Grand Slams.
