I've always eyed the World Rugby rankings with a little suspicion, possibly because I’ve never fully understood their machinations and how it tries to account for teams with fixture lists of massively differing severity and how it seems to unduly add weight to away victories when some home victories are equally meritorious and worthy of ranking points.
