Ireland co-captain Edel McMahon has returned from injury to lead her country into their tournament opener against Japan today.
The Exeter Chiefs flanker missed both warm-up matches with a knee issue but has been passed fit to start at open-side in Northampton as one of four changes to the team that lost to Canada earlier this month.
“I was disappointed to miss out on the warmups,” McMahon said. “I was there or thereabouts, but it was the right call to focus on this weekend. I’m really excited now and just buzzing to get going.”
