Steve Diamond will not be going on a spending spree after Newcastle’s takeover last week by Red Bull ended years of austerity at Kingston Park.
The club, which has finished bottom of the Premiership for the last three seasons, has changed its name to Newcastle Red Bulls, dropping the Falcons, after the £40m takeover by the energy drink multinational which has an extensive sport portfolio.
