Gloucester hooker George Knowles is one of the brightest young front rowers coming through the England age-grade system – and he’s taken the long road to get there.

Knowles, 18, came through the ranks at Ledbury RFC, the England U18s No.2 had a brief spell at Newham, then returned for Colts before making a name for himself at Hereford Cathedral School, where he played three years in the first XV.
