Mike Friday: World Rugby’s 7s overhaul is ‘shameful’

Mike Friday, the ex-England, Kenya and USA Sevens, coach has called World Rugby “shameful, unprofessional and Machiavellian” after the global governing body overhauled the World Sevens Series.

It was confirmed that a three-tier model would be implemented for the 202526 campaign in the lead-up to the 2028 Olympics with the aim to deliver “long-term financial stability”, replacing the current 12-team men’s and 16-team women’s models.
