I have yet to see any adequate explanation as to why France will be hosting Ireland on a Thursday night – February 6 –when the 2026 Six Nations kicks off next February.
Yes, the following night, the opening ceremony of the winter Olympics will be taking place in Italy but I have never met one person who can remember one Winter Olympics opening ceremony from another. Must watch TV it ain’t.
And even if it was – which it isn’t – why not stage the France game on the Saturday or Sunday which are long-established Six Nations days?
Why make Ireland fans travel out on Wednesday or in a mad rush on...
