Ken Owens eying a move into politics

Wales hooker Ken Owens

Ken Owens, aka the Sheriff of Carmarthen, is planning to plunge into the whirlpool of politics as a Labour candidate at elections to the Senedd.
If his standing for the Welsh Assembly is confirmed, Wales’ most-capped hooker will hope to succeed where two fellow Lions failed.
Carwyn James stood as the Plaid Cymru candidate for the Llanelli constituency in 1970 when he finished a distant second to Labour’s Denzil Davies.
Rugby counted its blessings because the outcome left James free to coach the Lions to their famous series win in New Zealand the following year.
