BEN Earl has reason to feel aggrieved with the decision to award a penalty for a no-arms tackle in the last minutes of England’s final Six Nations game. It was a contrary decision by a fickle TMO, who had ignored similar misdemeanours earlier in the game.
How do you tackle 6ft 8in behemoths, weighing 20-plus stones, who are bent double in anticipation of contact, and THEN be expected to wrap your arm around legally? It’s nigh-on impossible. There has to be mitigation for such a ludicrous situation, and a total overhaul of the refereeing system.
