SALE director of rugby Alex Sanderson was left feeling nothing but pride in his men, who despite a tough week of illness and travel ran the Stormers close throughout a brutal battle in Cape Town.
Sanderson said: “I don’t lean into injury and illness as an excuse, we brought everyone we’ve got in the squad with us for this fixture. We could only train with 26, that’s all we’ve got left. Out of the 26, about 20 came down with vomiting and diarrhoea in the week. Luckily it was after the session on Tuesday so they had a day off in bed.
