Shaun Edwards had two of the greatest low tacklers the English game has produced when he was coaching at Wasps – flanker Joe Worsley and centre Fraser Waters.
This week when Edwards backed the Australian disciplinary panel’s decision to exonerate Owen Farrell, I disagreed, especially having warned before in this column that his high-tackle tendency would bring him further grief if uncorrected.
The pity is that it almost certainly would have been rectified if the England skipper had been exposed to Edwards’ skills as a defence coach.
