THE South West Premier started the New Year with a bang, especially in Bristol where Chew Valley beat Lydney, 26-8, in a contest which threatened to boil over.
The salient takeaway was a bonus-point win for Valley, which keeps them just six points behind league leaders Camborne, but there was drama aplenty at Lobbingtons.
Lydney’s captain, Jack Spencer, and Oliver Locke both saw red for their involvement in a mass brawl, giving Chew the landscape from which to reap plenty of reward.
