Sad to hear laughter over Traore incident

WHEN those at the ‘Secret Santa’ party hosted by the Benetton squad laughed at Cherif Traore unwrapping an over-ripe banana, they did more than throw two fingers at rugby’s much-vaunted stand against racism. They ridiculed all that stuff about the rugby family looking after its own.
The Treviso club’s attempt to sweep the incident under the carpet with no more than a perfunctory apology to their black Italian Test prop prompted those who run the United Rugby Championship to demand a full investigation.
