Marler faces long ban for insulting opponent

Joe Marler faces a lengthy ban and possibly the end of his England career after he insulted an opponent’s hospital-bound mother in Tuesday’s game between Harlequins and Bristol.
The prop has since apologised for what he said but has been charged by the RFU and faced a hearing on Friday evening.
In the game, Marler seemed to anger Bristol flanker Jake Heenan in a verbal disagreement at a scrum. Marler’s words prompted a brawl between the two sets of forwards, with away coach Pat Lam suggesting that Marler’s words had caused the fracas.
