The first league fixture between these two clubs for 17 years produced a fascinating and feisty game, with Hull Ionians just coming out on top against Sheffield.
The win owed much to a brick-built defence that denied a Sheffield side much of a look-in until the final throes, with a late try garnering a losing bonus point.
