Hull could not to match the speed and precision of Rosslyn Park and, despite having the better of the scrums, struggled at lineouts which conceded too much possession.
It was after Hull lost a lineout after only 10 minutes that Rosslyn Park struck for their first try through wing Charlie Walker and although this went unconverted their other winger Ben Howard was put over by Craig Holland two minutes later, Holland kicking the first of his eight conversions.
