Darlington opened the season with a hard-fought win in torrential rain in the North-East.
A late penalty saw Chinnor claim a losing bonus point on a day when handling was far from easy for both sides.
Mowden made a flying start as Liam Checksfield cut a line through the defence to dive over under the posts. Signing Matt Minogue added the extras, before DMP extended their lead via another new arrival.
