Newport edging closer to glory

LEADERS Newport (Salop) took another giant step towards the Midlands Premier title after easing to a 55-8 victory over Dudley Kingswinford.
Five of the home side’s nine tries came during a scintillating first period with full-back Jacob Leonard claiming the 13th minute opener before slotting over the conversion – the first of his five.
Ricky Bailey, Henry Vaka and Toby Evans also crossed before the interval with Newport wrapping things up in the second half thanks to a George Castledine double, a second from Evans and one from Luke Kendall.
