JAMES Davies is the third international to be smashed into early retirement by concussion this season, prompting medical experts to ask: “How many more before something is done?”
The Wales flanker, 31, quit on Friday rather than dare risk further brain injury after a long struggle to recover from a blow to the head during his last match, against Georgia 17 months ago.
His exit follows those within the last six months of New Zealand flanker Dillon Hunt at the age of 26 and Australia full-back Dane Heylett-Petty at 32, both because of blows to the head.
