NIGEL Gillingham had just led Loughborough College to their fifth and final success in the Middlesex Sevens title when he was taken to see the college principal.
Gillingham had only just returned to the college after celebrating for two days with his teammates after the class of 1976 emulated their successes in 1959, 1964, 1966 and 1970.
The only survivor from the side beaten by Richmond in the final a year earlier expected to be hauled across the coals for an unpaid bill for a broken win...
