Ban American imports

I AGREE with Chris Hewett’s plea (TRP, July 19) to do away with the inane and superfluous ‘entertainment’ surrounding matches (although I would exempt the spectator- tackling otter at Sandy Park).
Another, related, ‘American import’ which I’d urge the powers-that-be to bin is the leading of the national anthem by the soloist at Twickenham.
We have what must be the shortest, best known and easiest-remembered anthem in the world; why do we need a young lady (normally not dressed for the weather) leading us like a primary school assembly?
