Rugby has to give way if BBC face budget cut

I LIKE the BBC. I think it is one of our nation’s assets.
This, unfortunately, is not the unanimous opinion of our politicians.
Prospects for the BBC increasing its meagre sports budget do not look good, given the current debate over how to finance it.
If, as suggested by some, it becomes a subscription channel in whole or in part, then sport, assuming the BBC can actually afford any, will probably be one of the offerings subject to subscription, and therefore not free to air.
