Uruguayan rugby pay respects to hero Catalan

THE death of Sergio Catalan this week at the age of 91, a humble Chilean arriero (mule packer) in a remote part of the Andes, was being marked in Uruguayan rugby circles where he has always been considered a hero for the part he played in the rescue of surviving members of the Old Christians RFC who crashed high in the Andes on October 13 1972.
