OUT of all my 365 appearances for Tigers, my personal highlight was the try I scored in the 1979 John Player Cup final against Moseley. To squeeze over so late in the day was fantastic. Beating Moseley in those days was some scalp as they and Coventry were powerhouses of not just Midlands rugby but the whole country.
My father owned a TV shop and he was one of the few people to have a video recorder and he’d taped Rugby Special. Watching the game back, we didn’t realise how much on top Moseley were for a lot of the game.
