One-eyed heroes defy the ravages of war

EXACTLY 100 years ago this week the Five Nations championship cranked back into action after World War 1 and it kicked off with a game that vividly demonstrated the ravages of combat.
Scotland, having wined and dined splendidly the night before in Paris, celebrated New Year’s day with a famous 5-0 victory in front of a full house at Parc des Princes in a game the French labelled as Le match des borgnes, the game of the one-eyed.
