HULL Ionians fell to a second successive heavy defeat, which wouldn’t be a concern other than the season is only two weeks old.
The hosts started calamitously, letting Callum Irvine sell a dummy to cross under the posts in the opening minute and Darlington looked lively as they repeatedly stretched the Ionians defence.
A long-range penalty from Seremaia Turagabeci came back off the crossbar allowing Ionians to pile on the pressure and Ben Stephenson came up with a try following a successful catch and drive.
