Portrush golfers take a love of rugby onto the fairways

THREE golfers from three continents with connections to international rugby converged on Royal Portrush for the Open and all three made the halfway cut – a New Zealander, an Italian and a South African.
Ryan Fox, whose father Grant kicked goals in prodigious number when the All Blacks won the first World Cup in 1987, will leave an indelible mark in the Open book irrespective of his fate over the weekend.
He became the first golfer to complete the back nine holes in any round of any Open in fewer than 30 strokes.
