DAVE Ellis’ historic season in charge of Kenilworth RFC almost didn’t happen, after club president Willie Whitesmith thought his application was a wind up.
The former France defence coach joined the club at the start of this season and his coaching has had a phenomenal effect on its amateur players – winning three trophies this year.
The club, based in the Coventry suburbs, has gone on its own fairytale run in 2018/19 as Ellis guided them to promotion into National 2 South at the first attempt.
